വിളവെടുത്തതിനുശേഷം നടാനുള്ള തണ്ടുകള്‍ തണലുള്ള സ്ഥലത്ത് കുത്തനെ ചാരിവെക്കണം. ഈ തണ്ടുകളുടെ തലഭാഗത്തുനിന്നും 30 സെന്റീമീറ്ററും കടഭാഗത്തുനിന്നും 10 സെന്റീമീറ്ററും നീളം ഒഴിവാക്കി 15-20 സെന്റീമീറ്റര്‍ നീളമുള്ള കമ്പുകളാക്കി മുറിക്കുക.ഒരു ഹെക്ടറില്‍ നടാന്‍ ഇത്തരം 2000 കമ്പുകള്‍ വേണ്ടിവരും. രോഗ-കീട ബാധ ഇല്ലാത്ത തണ്ടുകള്‍ ആയിരിക്കണം ഉപയോഗിക്കേണ്ടത്.നിലമൊരുക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അടിവളമായി ഹെക്ടറൊന്നിന് 12.5 ടണ്‍ കമ്പോസ്റ്റോ കാലിവളമോ ചേര്‍ക്കണം. രാസവളങ്ങള്‍ താഴെ പറയുന്ന തോതില്‍ ചേര്‍ക്കാം.ങ്കിൽ മാത്രമേ വേനലിലെ ചുട്ടു പൊള്ളുന്ന ചൂടിലും ഈ കൃഷി വിജയിക്കൂ. ചുവന്ന കൽപ്രദേശമാണ് കപ്പയ്ക്ക് അനുയോജ്യം. പഞ്ചസാര മണലിലും ഉണ്ടാകും. നദീതീരങ്ങള്‍, മലയോരങ്ങള്‍, താഴ്വരകള്‍, വെള്ളം കെട്ടിനില്‍ക്കാത്ത തരിശ്ശുനിലങ്ങള്‍ തുടങ്ങി തുറസ്സായ എല്ലാ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും മരച്ചീനി കൃഷി ചെയ്യാം.മണ്ണ്‌ ഇളക്കി കൂനകൾ കൂട്ടിയാണ്‌ സാധാരണ കപ്പ കൃഷിചെയ്യാറ്‌കുറഞ്ഞ കാലദൈർഘ്യം കൊണ്ട് വിളവെടുപ്പിനു പര്യാപ്‌തമാവുന്ന കപ്പയുടെ പ്രധാന ശത്രു പെരുച്ചാഴി അല്ലെങ്കിൽ എലി വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ പെട്ട ജീവികളാണ്. വെട്ടുകിളി ശല്യമോ മറ്റ് പറയത്തക്ക കീടബാധയോ കണ്ടുവരുന്നില്ല. എങ്കിലും മരച്ചീനിയിൽ പ്രധാനമായും ബാധിക്കുന്ന രോഗം മൊസേയ്ക്ക് രോഗമാണ്‌. ഇത് വൈറസ് ജന്യരോഗമായതിനാൽ മുൻ‌കരുതലുകളിലൂടെ മാത്രമേ നിയന്ത്രണം സാധിക്കുകയുള്ളൂ. രോഗപ്രതിരോധമുള്ള ഇനങ്ങളിൽ ഒരു വർഷം 4% മുതൽ 5% വരെ മാത്രം വൈറസ് രോഗബാധ കാണപ്പെടുന്നതെങ്കിൽ രോഗപ്രതിരോധശേഷി കുറവുള്ള ഇനങ്ങളിൽ 75% വരെയും രോഗം കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.
ഒരു വർഷത്തെ വിളയിൽ നിന്നും അടുത്ത വർഷത്തേയ്ക്കും ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നും മറ്റൊരു സ്ഥലത്തേയ്ക്കും രോഗം വ്യാപിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ രോഗബാധയേറ്റ കമ്പുകൾ കൃഷിയിൽ നിന്നും ഒഴിവാക്കുന്നതാണ്‌ നല്ലത്.കേരളത്തിലെ പുളിരസമുള്ള മണ്ണില്‍ ശുപാര്‍ശ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള പൊട്ടാഷിന്റെ 50% സോഡിയം ലവണമായി നല്‍കിയാല്‍ മതി. ഇതിനായി കറിയുപ്പ് ഉപയോഗിക്കാം.കളനിയന്ത്രണം സമയാസമയങ്ങളില്‍ നടത്തണം. ചുരുങ്ങിയത് രണ്ടുമൂന്നു തവണയെങ്കിലും ഇടയിളക്കേണ്ടിവരും. 90 ദിവസത്തിനുശേഷം മണ്ണുകൂട്ടികൊടുക്കുകയും വേണം. മുകളിലേക്കുള്ള രണ്ടു ശാഖകള്‍ മാത്രം വളരുന്നതിനായി ബാക്കിയുള്ള മുകുളങ്ങള്‍ അപ്പപ്പോള്‍ നീക്കം ചെയ്യണംകൃത്യമായ ജലസേചനം കൊണ്ട് വിളവ് 150 – 200 ശതമാനം വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കും. വേനല്‍ക്കാലത്ത് മാസത്തിലൊരിക്കല്‍ ഒരുതവണ വീതം നനയ്ക്കുന്നതാണ് നല്ലതാണ്. കടുത്ത വേനൽ പോലും അതിജീവിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ നനയ്ക്കാതെ ഇട്ടു കളയാൻ പാടില്ല. മാത്രമല്ല കമ്പു നട്ടാലുടൻ നല്ലതുപോലെ നനയ്ക്കണം. നനയാണ് കടുത്ത വേനലിനെ അതിജീവിക്കാൻ ഈ കൃഷിയെ സഹായിക്കുന്നത്.ചില കപ്പകളിൽ കട്ടിന്റെ അംശം കൂടുതലുള്ളതിനാൽ ഒരു തരം കയ്പ്പ് രുചിക്കുന്നു. കൃത്രിമ വളം ചേർക്കുന്നതാണ് കാരണം എന്ന് വിദഗ്ധാഭിപ്രായം. എന്നാൽ ചാരം വളമായി ചേർത്തുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന കപ്പയിൽ കട്ടിന്റെ അംശം കുറയുകയും കയ്പ്പ് കുറഞ്ഞതായും അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നു. .മണ്ണില്‍ നിന്നും പോഷകമൂലകങ്ങള്‍ വളരെയധികം നീക്കം ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു വിളയായതുകൊണ്ട് തുടര്‍ച്ചയായ ഒരേ സ്ഥലത്ത് കൃഷിയിറക്കുന്നത് അഭികാമ്യമല്ല എന്നും പറയപ്പെടുന്നു
